DON'T FORGET TO SUBMIT YOUR 2007 PUBLISHED WORKS TO "AUTHORS, EDITORS & COMPOSERS"
On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, University Libraries will once again recognize the publishing and creative accomplishments of UC's faculty at the annual "Authors, Editors & Composers" event. Scheduled for 3:30pm in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center at UC, "Authors, Editors & Composers" will include a reception, presentation of selected works, a printed bibliography, and an exhibit.
To submit your works published in 2007 for inclusion in "Authors, Editors & Composers," complete an online form.

NEW ONLINE SEARCH TOOL

Search for books, articles, DVD's, images, and more using one search tool. This powerful search tool allows users to search UC's online Library Catalog and research databases simultaneously. Numerous search options are provided in the tool such as: search by subject or by database, perform a "Quick Search" of key databases, or perform an "Advanced Search" by selecting databases or keywords to search. OneSearch is available via the University Libraries Web site, as well as from the various College and Department Web sites, the UC Libraries page, and the libraries Blackboard page.

Need a quick fact, illustration, or topic overview? Try a reference e-book. Fourteen new electronic reference books, including encyclopedias, handbooks, biographical collections, and guides have been added to the OhioLINK Electronic Books Center. These latest additions brings the total number of available titles in the Electronic Books Center to 8,800 (516 are reference e-books from ABC-CLIO, 1,302 are from Oxford University Press, and 6,982 are scholarly books from Springer). Some of the available titles include: Adoption: A Reference Handbook, Chemical and Biological Warfare: A Reference Handbook, The Internet and Society: A Reference Handbook, and Mental Health in America.

ACCESS INDIVIDUAL TITLES WITHIN A DATABASE
Individual Titles Added to the Online Library Catalog

University Libraries Technical Services staff have been entering into the online Library Catalog thousands of records and urls of individual titles found within online databases. This provides users direct access from the Library Catalog to individual titles within a database. Online databases that now have individual title records in the Library Catalog include: Making of America (digital library of primary sources in American social history) (7,481 records), Naxos Music Library (4,041 records), PsycBooks (1,282 records), Knovel (science and engineering database) (981 records), Reference EiVillage Engineering (407 records), ebrary (5,000 records), UC pre-1997 dissertations and theses (5,784 records), Early English Books Online (94,667 records), Sabin Americana (1500-1926) Collection Online (28,169 records), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (136,431 records), World Banks e-Library (1,777 records), National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Working Papers (13,716 records). To find these records in the Library Catalog, users can search for the specific title they are looking for.

UC Libraries provide online access to The Chronicle of Higher Education to University of Cincinnati faculty, staff, and students. To access The Chronicle online, simply visit www.chronicle.com from any UC on-campus connection or through UC remote access. Online access is also available via a link from the catalog record for The Chronicle of Higher Education in the Library Catalog. Online access includes the full text of the current issue, statistical data about everything from faculty salaries to campus crime, a chronological listing of articles by date from 1995, a searchable archive of issues back to 1989, and more.
