Affiliated OrganizationsCincinnati Art MuseumThe University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Art Museum formed a partnership to encourage greater use of the Art Museum and its collections by UC faculty and students. The partnership fosters a heightened level of engagement between UC and the Art Museum that results in a wide array of cross-institutional, multi-disciplinary programs and opportunities. Among the activities planned as part of the partnership are: library resource-sharing, internships, exhibition design, digital projects, guest lectures, and faculty and staff exchanges. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC)The libraries of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and the University of Cincinnati (UC) joined forces to provide increased access to research materials for library users at both institutions. With this partnership, UC Libraries, extend “OhioLINK affiliated institution” status to CCHMC, which provides CCHMC researchers and staff with access to the more than 47 million items held by OhioLINK libraries, including thousands of electronic journals and hundreds of electronic databases. In turn, OhioLINK members throughout the state have access to the unique pediatric medical journals and books held by the CCHMC Pratt Library. University of Cincinnati users may search for CCHMC library materials via the UC Library Catalog. They may borrow and request materials from CCHMC libraries. The Lloyd Library and MuseumThe Lloyd Library is a world class research institution that collects, preserves, and provides access for scholars and educators to published and archival materials in the areas of botany, pharmacy and complimentary medicines, and horticulture. Its outreach programs promote and encourage scholarly investigation and education based on the areas of knowledge represented in its collection areas. In 1996, the Lloyd Library and the University of Cincinnati Libraries teamed to bring information about the Lloyd's holdings into the University of Cincinnati Libraries' online catalog. This partnership has resulted in increased visibility and availability of the Lloyd's holdings to the academic and research communities as well as other interested users worldwide who are able to search the collections via the Internet. University of Cincinnati users may search for Lloyd Library materials via the UC Library Catalog. They may use Lloyd Library materials on site. The Mercantile LibraryOrganized in 1835, The Mercantile Library is the city's senior library and one of the oldest cultural institutions in the midwest. It is a membership library supported by members' annual subscriptions, gifts, and income from an endowment fund. The name refers not to the collection but to the Library's founders who were young merchants and clerks. The Mercantile Library and the University of Cincinnati Libraries have teamed to bring information about the Lloyd's holdings into the University of Cincinnati Libraries' online catalog, making the records available to Mercantile members and researchers worldwide. Students and faculty alliliated with OhioLINK institutions have the ability to electronically request items while searching the OhioLINK central catalog. OhioLINK also provides a delivery service among member institutions to speed the exchange of library items. In addition to items in the central catalog, OhioLINK member institutions enjoy access to thousands of electronic indexes and databases through the Electronic Journal Center, many of which are full-text resources, as well as thousands of images and sound recordings in the Digital Media Center.
