Canada's National Occupational Health and Safety Resource that includes United States information as well. Search across multiple resources at once or search them individually. Resources include: MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), RTECS (Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances), CHEMINFO, health and safety information on pure chemicals, and OSH References that include OSHLINE, NIOSHTIC, NIOSHTIC-2, HSELINE, & CISILO.

Detailed profiles of more than 1,300 important workplace chemicals, including health, fire and reactivity hazards and safe work practices.

Enter a Chemical Name or CAS Registry Number to see if that chemical is listed. Click on "Synonyms" to see the various chemical names for that substance.

ChemIDplus (Free)
ChemIDplus is the National Library of Medicine's dictionary of more than 360,000 chemicals that can be used to investigate chemicals that affect biological functions in humans and animals. Many records now provide boiling point, melting point, solubility, molecular weight, and other data. Chemicals can be searched by their ranges of effects, by toxicity, and by the organs/body systems they may act on (such as nervous system, skin, heart, kidneys and liver).

CINAHL
Primarily covers over 900 of the English language journals related to nursing and the allied health disciplines but also includes environmental and epidemiological aspects as well. Updated monthly. 1983 to present.

Code of Federal Regulations (Free)
(1996 - present, varies by title)
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government.

Concise International Chemical Assessment Documents (Free)
Concise International Chemical Assessment Documents (CICADs) are similar to Environmental Health Criteria (EHC) documents in providing internationally accepted reviews on the effects on human health and the environment of chemicals or combinations of chemicals. They aim to characterize the hazard and dose-response of exposure to chemicals and to provide examples of exposure estimation and risk characterisations for application at the national or local level.

Dissertations and Theses (OhioLINK) is a free online database of masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from graduate students in participating Ohio colleges and universities.

Dissertations and Theses (ProQuest) includes full-text to over 800,000 dissertations from 1997 forward. The database also includes full-text to all UC dissertations published in electronic format. In addition, the database includes citations to dissertations from 1861-Present and 350-word abstracts from 1980 forward. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts.

Envirofacts (Free)
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the Envirofacts Warehouse to provide the public with direct access to the wealth of information contained in its databases.

Environment Complete
Environment Complete covers applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Environment Complete contains citations for articles from 1,200 domestic and international journals, as well as 100 monographs. The database provides full text for many of the most used journals in the discipline, and for the conference papers of the North American Association of Environmental Education.

Environmental Health Criteria (EHC) Monographs (Free)
EHC publications are monographs designed for scientists and administrators responsible for the establishment of safety standards and regulations.

Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management (ESPM)
Provides access to information covering all areas of air, land, water, and noise pollution as well as bacteriology, ecology, toxicology, risk assessment, environmental engineering, environmental biotechnology, waste management and water resources. Includes access to Ecology Abstracts, EIS: Digests of Environmental Impact Statements, and Environmental Engineering Abstracts.

EPA National Catalog
Contains the holdings (lists of books, documents and magazine titles) for most of the 28 EPA regional libraries and laboratories. There are also holdings for the EPA documents in NTIS, the National Technical Information Service (whether or not they are held by any libraries).

Ergonomics Abstracts - To begin searching, click on the word "SEARCH" in the pink box on the left side of the screen. Ergonomic Abstracts includes information for not only mainstream ergonomics, but also related material from psychology, physiology, biomechanics, job design, human-computer interaction, safety science, human engineering, medicine, occupational health, sport and transport.

The database contains nearly 300,000 records, full text for selected titles and searchable cited references for more than 200 titles as well.

Health and Environmental Research Online (HERO) (Free)
HERO is a database of scientific studies and other references used to develop EPA's risk assessments aimed at understanding the health and environmental effects of pollutants and chemicals. It is developed and managed in EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) by the National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA).

HSELINE
More than 175,000 citations on safety and industrial hazards from diverse subject areas such as: Engineering, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Mining, Hazardous Substances, Occupational Hygiene, Railway, Offshore Safety, Nuclear Technology, Industrial Air Pollution, Welding, Construction and Robotics.

CCOHS MSDSs give information on chemical products and companies, first aid, toxicity, chemical properties, exposures and protection, as well as instructions on handling and storage, and additional information such as regulations and transportation. More than 160,000 current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) available directly from suppliers and manufacturers.

The NTP is an interagency program whose mission is to evaluate agents of public health concern by developing and applying tools of modern toxicology and molecular biology. The program maintains an objective, science-based approach in dealing with critical issues in toxicology and is committed to using the best science available to prioritize, design, conduct, and interpret its studies. To that end, the NTP is continually evolving to remain at the cutting edge of scientific research and to develop and apply new technologies.

NIOSH (Free)
Provides access to NIOSH publications, services, news and research.

NIOSH Manual of Analytical Methods (NMAM) (Free)
A collection of methods for sampling and analysis of contaminants in workplace air, and in the blood and urine of workers who are occupationally exposed.

NIOSHTIC
Highly respected retrospective database covering all aspects of occupational health and safety with a strong emphasis on toxicology.

NIOSHTIC-2 (Free)
NIOSHTIC-2 contains 45,850 occupational safety and health information resource citations. Each month approximately 70 current citations are added with an annual yearly yield over 800 new current NIOSH funded citations. Retrospective material is also added at about the same rate resulting in a total annual increase of approximately 1,600 citations.  A significant portion of the citations (39,000) date from 1971 to the present. An additional 13,800 resources in NIOSHTIC-2 are publications dating from the 1930's to the present from the NIOSH Mining Safety & Health Research Laboratories (formerly the U. S. Bureau of Mines).

NTIS is a source for accessing the latest U.S. government-sponsored research and worldwide scientific, and technical information. NTIS is the central source for the sale of unclassified and publicly available information from research reports, journal articles, data files, computer programs and audio visual products from Federal sources. A social research database containing detailed profiles on social and environmental records on 3,000 US corporations.

Scopus is an abstract database for science and social science scholarly literature that covers 25 million abstracts from over 14,000 titles across 4,000 publishers, providing access to over 25 million abstracts. (Citations: 1966 to present)

Toxicological Profiles (Free)
The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) produces "toxicological profiles" for hazardous substances found at National Priorities List (NPL) sites. These hazardous substances are ranked based on frequency of occurrence at NPL sites, toxicity, and potential for human exposure. Toxicological profiles are developed from a priority list of 275 substances. ATSDR also prepares toxicological profiles for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Energy (DOE) on substances related to federal sites.

TOXNET (Free)
This National Library of Medicine resource is a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas.  Search as a group or individually.
